minecraft review

First off I am sorry for my absence; I had a lot of work with school. But now I’m going to review a game that is so addicting it makes world of warcraft look bad. A game that has over 16,500,000 members and the game isn’t even finished.

There is no story to minecraft you start a world and harvest resources, at first you will start out with nothing so you will only be able to collect wood and dirt, you can craft blocks to make items and tools to help you harvest resources faster. Once you can mine you will collect stone, coal, iron, gold, diamond and other items.

Once you have enough resources you can start building, there is no exact goal in minecraft, you can do whatever you want, build huge fortresses, excavate the deepest darkest caves for resources or just dig a hole and live like a hermit. The choice is yours.

The graphics are the most striking thing about minecraft, at first you might think that the graphics are crap, which they are but the graphics help define the game which is based on blocks. Everything in the world is blocky, your blocky, the sun is blocky the clouds, sheep and the landscape are all blocky. Now in survival mode once the sun goes down monsters will appear all are varied e.g. zombies attack very slowly, skeletons will shoot you from a far, spiders can leap great distances and the creepers will walk towards you and blow up.

In addition to the single player there is multi player which is very fun as people create some insane things, each server is unique so find a great server and have fun building.

The full game will be released soon and I will be reviewing it so until then I won’t give minecraft a score but I will say that you should buy this game immediately its only £13.00 while it’s in Beta.

Minecraft preview

I have to say I feel like a total jackass, me and my friends used to make fun of people playing minecraft saying it was nerdy. Oh how wrong I was now after buying the game for only £13 I can’t stop. My full review is coming and will take some time purely due to the size of the game but I thought I would give you a small preview of this amazing game.

The basics of minecraft is to during the day you mine materials (in the early stages cobblestone, coal and in later stages gold and diamond) and at night you return to your house and wait out the night which is when all the horrible creatures.You also craft tools with the materials you mined such as axes and swords. Also you will build new buildings using a wide range of materials from dirt to brick blocks. If that sounds boring then you can check out the multiplayer and see what other people have created.

So the game is brilliant if you are at all interested in the game then buy it while it’s still in Beta and you will save yourself a lot of money. Also check Notches blog (notch is the games creator) for minecraft related news.

Deus ex human revolution review

I haven’t played any of the previous Deus ex games so I was new to the concept but despite knowing next to nothing about the history of the world Deus ex’s story reeled me in and refused to let go until the credits rolled.

The story to human revolution is one of its greatest attributes. You are Adam Jenson a security guard for Sarif industries which is one of the leading forces in the science of human augmentation. Shortly after starting the game the company is under attack and you are fatally injured and receive augmentations and are sent out on a quest to find the scientists who were abducted during the raid. Along the way you will visit China, Singapore, Montreal and your home town of Detroit as you find clues to ultimately lead you to the final stages of the story. The ending is very good with some tough decisions to make which can ultimately affect the entire world saving augments or damming them. And not one is correct there is no good and bad ending all have their strong and weak points.

The gameplay for human revolution is difficult to explain as everyone will have a slightly different experience, you can chose to shoot your way through encounters, and buying augments to sit that style such as the Typhoon. Or you can chose to sneak your way through situations finding vents, hacking into terminals to shut down robots and buying stealth augments such as cloak or upgrading your hacking skills. Another is in certain circumstances you will be given the option to talk your way into certain area for example you have to retrieve something from a police station you can talk to the guard on duty to persuade him to let you in saving a lot of time sneaking for shooting. All methods feel balanced and have good attributes and bad.

The graphics in human revolution are as follows. Amazing. There is so much detail in the backgrounds and character models if the faces don’t always sync up with the voice. Plus the yellow tinge makes the cities feel more realistic and gritty they aren’t clean and beautiful most of the time you will be walking by hobo's sheltering by a small fire.

The sound to the game is fantastic the music fits the mood of the game perfectly with a dramatic feel to them. The voice acting is also very well done if the script is sometimes a bit off.

A good follow up for the first Deus ex has been a long time coming but it’s finally here so if you are at all not sure on this game take my word for it you will love it, it blends stealth and action perfectly and is fun. And allot of reviews don’t like the boss fights but they weren’t that hard and I found them alright and I was playing stealth. This game deserves a 10/10.

doom 3 review

I thought since it’s been a while to fill the time between my deus ex review I would review a game that has been amazing since the early days of FPS’s it DOOM 3.

The story of doom 3 is basically you are a marine sent to a mining colony on Mars and in usual sci fi shooters everything goes wrong very quickly not too long after you arrive the demonic forces of hell are released leaving only a few survivors and you have to fight them off to perform specific tasks to save the day.

The basics of doom 3 are to shoot everything and you get plenty of weapons to despatch your foes including a chainsaw and eventually the famous BFG (BIG FUCKING GUN). 

The graphics are very good finally catching up with dooms ambitions, yes now there are better games graphically but who cares about them when you can cut demons in half with a chainsaw. Much of the game is set in dimly lit corridors where predictably monsters will attack you from behind.

The sound to doom 3 is what makes it great the weapons sound great having a real rugged feel to them and the voice acting is superb especially for the audio logs which have been done to death in games such as Bioshock but in doom 3 there at just the right time and are actually interesting to watch.

However the primary function of doom 3 is to stop you from playing it from fright and it does that brilliantly it will keep you on edge for the entire game.

Basically you need to experience doom 3 and if you can get the collector’s edition then you can get doom 1 and 2 to complete you experience. Just buy it 9/10.

LA noire Nicolson electroplating review

The basic story to the case is separate from the main story and takes place on the arson desk, there is a massive explosion at an electroplating plant and you must solve the case.

To complete the case you will have to do what you normally do in LA noire investigating, interrogating and chasing down suspects and getting into gun fights, plus solving the occasional puzzle. You drive around to places of interest to interview or investigate including the Spruce goose which if you haven’t heard of it is a massive sea plane that only flew once because the guy who designed it (Howard Hues) went crazy. A new car was also added being the Tucker tornado.

Overall if you enjoy LA noire then buy Nicolson electroplating and extend LA noire’s playtime even further. However it ends rather quickly so for that I will give it an 8/10 it’s worth the money or Microsoft points.
