Grand ages Rome review

Grand ages Rome is a city builder for the PC it is set in Rome and allows you to construct huge cities and you have to take into account the popularity and build accordingly.

There isn’t really a story in Grand ages Rome the campaign is made up of different missions that take place in all areas of the Roman Empire and you have to complete the objectives and move on to another mission.

The best mode in the game has to be free build which is basically where you are faced with a big map of your choice and you have to build a city from scratch with no objectives.

The graphics are very good if you have the system to run it, the only thing that doesn’t look good is the character models and the fighting animations but when you consider it isn’t designed as a combat game and focuses more on building then you can get over it.

The sound is very good and the soundtrack as the game is running is brilliant and sound as you would expect an ancient Rome game to sound, also the city sounds of all the people and the sounds of the shops and buildings are excellent. Also the sound of the weather while there are only 2 types of weather sunny and raining only one of which has sound is done well.

The bottom line is if you like a slow paced city builder with great sound effects and good building graphics then you will like the game; the best version to buy is the gold edition which comes with the Augustus expansion featuring a second campaign with more missions. The verdict is a 8/10 the reason being is that while free build is good it doesn’t do much to keep you engaged during that mode and the campaign is alright but is dull and doesn’t feature a whole story, what would have been good for free build were random events like an earthquake or a flood that tests you to recover quickly before your population gets too low and fires and riots break out.

If you have a game that I should review then comment and tell me it would really help me find out what my community wants. Thank you.
