I was amazed at the level of detail in the p47 which I reviewed earlier but a2a’s wings of power 3 b17 is on a whole new level the amount of immurement is huge but it is easy the fly but like all a2a products it is hard to master.
The whole point of acusim is to fully immerse you in flight and allow you to feel that you are actually running this plane, for starters the maintenance hangar has been revamped it allows you to view each engine and make changes to the cylinders and fuel pumps almost anything that can break can be viewed in the maintenance hangar and this carries on when you reload the aircraft. For example if you crash and reload a save then your plane will be battered and bruised. When flying the B17 there is a huge amount to think about and if you don’t want to think about everything you can pretty much give entire engine power (RPM, cowl flaps and intercoolers) to your co-pilot giving you the opportunity to just fly the plane, they also sound human and react as you would think they would in situations for example if you have a hard landing then your crew will comment which is always fun to listen to. And for long flights frequent opportunity’s to listen to the radio and listen to orthotic music from the time. The load manager comes back and allows you to load ordinance and external fuel tanks as well as change oil, charge batteries, refill oxygen, fill up hydraulic fluid on the fly.
The graphics are just as good if not better than the p47 although I had to scale down the settings to reduce lag but people with more powerful computers will easily be able to run it on high settings and experience the beauty.
The package comes with the same detailed manuals and an easy installation process.
My final score for a2a’s B17 is a 9.7/10 if you are a hard core flyer then buy it if you just like cruising around and don’t care for the interfaces of the aircraft then you should still buy it the only problems I found were some texture pop in and sometimes the game would freeze but that normally happens to me anyway. My next a2a review will be the 377 strattercruiser.
